ChargeAE (“we”, “the app”) helps you find EV chargers, plan trips, and track charging costs in the UAE. We built it to need as little of your data as possible. You do not create an account, and we do not sell your information to anyone.
What we collect
- Location — with your permission, used to show chargers near you and to navigate. It stays on your device; when you ask the assistant something like “chargers near me”, your coordinates are sent to our service only to answer that request, and are not stored against your identity.
- An anonymous device identifier — a random ID used to run basic, aggregate usage counts and to prevent abuse of our free service. It is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID.
- Your charging log — the charges you record in the cost tracker are stored on your device. When you request AI money-saving tips, a compact, non-identifying summary of your spending (totals and rates, no personal details) is sent to generate advice.
- Diagnostics & usage — crash reports and anonymous usage analytics via Google Firebase, so we can fix problems and improve the app.
What we do not do
- We do not require or store your name, email, or phone number to use the app.
- We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
- We do not track your location in the background.
Services we use
- Apple MapKit for the map on your iPhone.
- Google Maps Platform to calculate driving routes for trip planning.
- Supabase to host the charger database and the assistant’s service.
- Anthropic (Claude) to turn your questions and expense summaries into answers. Queries are processed to respond and are not used to identify you.
- Google Firebase for crash reporting, analytics, and (if you allow it) push notifications.
Each processes data under its own terms and only as needed to provide these features.
Charger data
Charger locations and details are drawn from open sources, primarily Open Charge Map, and from operator information. This is public infrastructure data, not personal data about you.
Your choices
- You can allow or deny location access in iOS Settings at any time; the app works without it (you can search by area).
- Your charging log lives on your device — deleting the app removes it.
- You can turn off notifications in iOS Settings.
Children
ChargeAE is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
